June 30, 2009 by: Sanket

Bluetooth is a wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices. Bluetooth uses a radio technology called frequency-hopping spread spectrum, which chops up the data being sent and transmits chunks of it on up to 79 frequencies. This technology is useful when transferring information between two or more devices that are near each other in low-bandwidth situations.

Following are some versions of Bluetooth.

Version at start was Bluetooth 1.0 and 1.0B

Next version was Bluetooth 1.1

Bluetooth 1.2 is introduced with faster connectivity

Bluetooth 2.0 was released on November 10, 2004. In that the main difference was the introduction of an “Enhanced Data Rate” (EDR) which helps for faster data transfer.

Bluetooth 2.1 is current version of Bluetooth.

Now Bluetooth community is planning for future release of Bluetooth. That will be Bluetooth 3.0. There will be lot of enhancement in it. No doubt the speed of communication will be enhanced in version 3.0 of Bluetooth.

Be tuned with this blog, I will come-up with all the new features of Bluetooth 3.0.
